Since January 2007, when we moved here, I have spend quite a lot of
time walking around in the forest close to where I live. This
forest is quite old, it is not privately owned, and the city has
decided to let the forest manage itself. This leads to lots of
broken trees that lies around to wither, and it is very exciting to
just walk around. It is also very good for the eco system since
many birds and animals prefer to live in this kind of forest. For
me, it is almost magic. Even if it is very close to the city, and
lots of people are using it, I can always find places where I am
alone. The parts I find most fascinating is the areas with dense
tree cover where there is moist and dark. Maybe a small stream
running through, or patch of soggy wet moss.
Anyway, even if I’ve been shooting almost weekly all this time, it
wasn’t until now I figured out how I could turn it into something.
It took me a while to figure out exactly what I liked so much about
this forest.
So, this page presents the work in progress for my emerging series
about the wet, dark and slightly mysterious place just outside my
home. I have chosen to go with colors since I feel the green and
brown tones, mixed with the occasional bright colored flower is
very much part of the experience.
Here is the work in progress gallery.
These pictures presents a loose selection of my candidates for this
series. They are not necessarily finished yet, and some of them
will almost certainly not end up in the final series.
